- Studying Patrick Jones and Boris Vallejo
In this first video we will introduce these two great artists studying their particular use of color and light adapting it to our figures. We will see the rules to make a realistic fantasy with an illustration style using the background in our favor.

- Preparation and pose
I will teach you to get more realism with the sculpture by creating micro details like hair and adding a spear. We will sculpt gazelle foot prints and see the subtle differences to choose the perfect angle to show the strength and personality of our character. We will also pre-illuminate with airbrush and choose colors that we probably never use.

- How to paint skin inspired by Boris Vallejo and Patrick Jones
In these four parts we will see in depth how to paint the skin by airbrush and brush, using the previous study of color. We will talk about the importance of the study of features, the silhouette of the elements to provide volume and we will see how to paint with the point of the brush, a “new” way of painting for me that is giving very good results.

- How to paint hair and aggressive projected shadows
We will paint a Loreal hair with micro shines and we will investigate what makes a color scheme “natural” and what does not, leaving the tertiary elements out of view with the appropriate colors. We will see the subtle differences between aggressive and soft projected shadows and learn to paint them easily.

Hi, first of all my congratulations for gold at putty and paint.
I love your videos, I have already received many inspirations. Unfortunately, I do not have that much time to do it all …

I really like the concept and I admire your dedication and discipline to apply that concept. I learned couple of nice techniques and tricks in “Lena” videos.
Just one small suggestion, if you don’t mind. Maybe you will make a video about that new technique of making highlights with the point of the brush. (Maybe you have it somewhere but I don’t watch it yet).
Excellent tutorials..

Cagkan

Hi,
Thanks for your words! Im glad you are learning new things to test.
Talking about the point “technique” you have several examples when I paint Lena by brush mostly in the final stages of the skin.
Also when I paint the cloths.
And if you want to get more info, go to the face of the bust ofSword of Dawn. There I also show how to add this texture type of highlighting easily. I use it to add red richness to the chickbones as well and you obtain a realistic looking.
Hope it helps. In the future I will do an specific video showing all the techniques.
Best regards
Aythami Alonso

This was a really great lesson, Aythami! Really learned a lot about light sources and to keep at it until you get it right. Have been working on a bust using what I have learned so far and like the results. If you are interested the wip is posted on my twitter @tomphilbrick.
Thanks again for all the inspiration! -Tom
Aythami Alonso Torrent says
Thanks Thomas! I’m happy the lessons were useful 😉 I’ve seen your bust, congrats!! you nailed the Light study and reboundings. I don’t use twitter too much but I will like to see your progress. You can post them in facebook or send them to me if you want.
Cheers!

Is that Shadow of the Colossus music playing in your videos? I love this painting so much, I have been looking everywhere to find someone that paints mini’s/bust in Boris, and Franks style. You capture it so well, I will have to give this a try, when I get a little better.
Aythami Alonso Torrent says
You have good ear! 😀 Yep! that music and game are awesome.
Thanks for your kind words. Boris is very inspirational.
Have fun painting!
