32mm figure from GamesWorkshop
Modified and painted by Aythami Alonso
Based on the illustration of the great Raymond Swanland
- How to create the figure
We start from the Gamesworkshop Space Marines Assault squad choosing base parts to convert using green putty. I will teach you sculpture tricks so you can modify each element in a simple way until you nail the pose of Raymond’s illustration.
- How to paint the golden helmet
I will show you how to paint a gold helmet using textures and a unique wet palette so you can train your creativity. It’s all in the small details. Sorry for the lack of focus in some parts of the video.
- Understanding the technique
A video aimed for beginners where I focus on each of the important aspects of painting: dilution, amount of paint, strokes, color, position and shape.
- How to paint Red
I will teach you to create an unique palette with primary colors to work your creativity and color vision. We will paint the torso and see small details such as cast shadows.
- How to paint the legs
We will see how to paint the lower armor by working the 2D effect throughout the figure. We will paint the gems and focus the cold light in the appropriate areas.
- How to paint the shoulder pad
We will focus on the shoulder pads by painting a few hidden objects like the lower armor layer. We will play with the values and finish the figure by balancing certain areas.
- How to paint the energy weapon
We will paint the cold light source of the entire scene and observe where its intense light bounces.
- How to paint the background
I’ll tell you about my experience painting a 2D background in acrylic for the first time, showing faults and tricks that I learn as I go along. We will create the terrain with double height and finish the work with more movement effects.
